MINIMUM WAGES AND PENSIONS INCREASED 50 PERCENT IN 2008, AZERBAIJAN PRESIDENT
Baku, January 16 (AzerTAc) - Minimum wages and pensions saw a 50 percent increase in Azerbaijan last year, President Ilham Aliyev said Friday at a meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers to sum up socio-economic results of 2008.
The President said the average monthly wages in Azerbaijan today make up $335, while
the monthly pensions average $120.
“Over the last 5 years, 766,000 new jobs were opened, of which, 548,000 are
permanent” the Head of State said.
“In 2008 alone we created more than 120,000 new jobs” he noted.
