MER-C INDONESIA TEAM ALLOWED TO ENTER GAZA STRIP
Rafah, Jan 17 (ANTARA) - A team of volunteers from Medical Rescue Committee (MER-C) Indonesia was allowed to enter Gaza Strip in Palestine on Saturday.
The team consisting of three doctors and a logistic staff entered Rafah at around 3.20pm local time (10.20pm West Indonesia Time), ANTARA reporter Andi Jauhari said.
The three MER-C doctors allowed to enter Gaza are dr Jose Rizal Jurnalis, Dr Indragiri and Dr Syarbini Abdul Muradz while the logistic staff is Moh Mursalim.
Another MER-C logistic staff Faried Thalib remained in Cairo to coordinate distribution of aid later.
A huge bomb exploded right on the border line between Egypt and Palestine in Rafah while the team was being interviewed.
The bomb exploded just one minute after the Indonesia team entered Gaza through Rafah after waiting for two weeks for it in Cairo.
The bomb shook the Arrival Hall building where volunteers were waiting for entry into Rafah in Palestine before entering Gaza Strip, leaving people panicking.
Jose Rizal called the first team to enter Gaza Strip a surgery team who will handle wounded Palestinians.
"The team will also seek information on what is the most needed," he said.
