SCE's equal opportunities uni welcomed

Manama, July 30 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Hala Al-Ansari, has welcomed the initiative of the Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) to set up an Equal Opportunities Unit. She affirmed the importance of the move in ensuring equal opportunities for the SCE’s woman staff, given the nature of the work of the SCE whose goals, she said, agree with the programmes and projects launched by the SCW under the "Life Quality" impact, which is one of the main themes of the National Plan for the Advancement of the Bahraini Women. Al-Ansari hailed the keenness of the SCE’s CEO, Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina, to chair the unit personally, which, she asserted would allow it to assume its role fully. She lauded the level of the members of the SCE’s Equal Opportunities Unit, pledging the SCW’s constant readiness to cooperate with all sides seeking to form a similar committee and provide them with the necessary expertise for the ultimate goal of achieving the principal of equal opportunities and supporting the implementation of the National Plan for the Advancement of the Bahraini Women and the National Model for the Integration of Women’s Needs in Development. She added that the panel was established following the issuance of instruction 4/2014 of the Civil Service Bureau, noting that such units aim to apply the equal opportunities principle, empower working women and integrate their needs to ensure their family stability and cohesion. They also aim to ensure the competitiveness of Bahraini women and their life-long learning so as to ensure their sustainable contributions to the development process. It is worth noting that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued Royal Order 14/2011 on establishing and organising the National Committee to follow up and implement the National Model for the Integration of Women’s Needs in the government’s action plan, under the chairmanship of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the SCW.
