STATE PROGRAM BOOSTS AGRARIAN SECTOR IN AZERBAIJAN

Baku, January 18 (AzerTAc). The state program on socio-economic development of
regions has played an exceptional role in developing the non-oil sector including
the agrarian one for the past five years. The expenditures spent on this program
amounted to AZN 6 bln, Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said.
According to the Minister, implementation of the state program resulted in upsurge
in employment in the regions. The program allowed opening 26,641 new enterprises and
creating 766,300 new jobs, of which 547,600 are permanent. The communications sector
grew by 28.2%, transport sector 13.5%, construction 36%, trade 17.5%.
