UMNO, BN WON'T NEGLECT EAST COAST CITY RESIDENTS, SAYS M'SIAN PM From Abdul Muin Abdul Majid
MANAMA (Bahrain), Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the loss to opposition Islamist Parti Islam seMalaysia (Pas) at the east coast city of Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election Saturday does not mean that the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) and and the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) led by the party will neglect the people in the area.
"For BN and Umno, we will continue to serve the people in the constituency
particularly because we regard the result as not a decision because of which we
will forget the constituency," said the BN chairman and Umno president.
In the by-election, BN candidate Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh lost to Mohd
Abdul Wahid Endut of Pas by 2,631 votes.
Abdullah was commenting on the election result on his arrival here Sunday.
He is here for a six-day official visit to Bahrain, Qatar and United Arab
Emirates.
He said BN accepted the election result and congratulated the Pas candidate,
