UAE, Tunisia, MoU to increase passenger flights
The UAE and Tunisia have signed an air services agreement to increase passenger flights between the two countries. The MoU was signed by deputy director general of the UAE General Authority for Civil Aviation (GCCA) Omar Ghalib and head of the Tunisian General Directorate of Civil Aviation Hammadi Bin Khalifa in presence of senior officials from both countries.
The two bodies agreed to designate the Emirates Airline, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, RAK Airways and Fly Dubai as national carriers from UAE and TUNISAIR, Carthage Airline and Nouvelair Tunisie as the national carrier of Tunisia. Under the agreement, 4 weekly passenger flights will be scheduled between Abu Dhabi and Tunis. The number of those flights will increase to 5 as from the beginning of 2010 and to 11 the beginning of 2011.
On the Dubai-Tunis route, 8 flights will be scheduled as the beginning of 2010. The current number of flights is 7. The two sides will meet again in June 2009 to discuss the increase and amendments to the Air Transportation Agreement signed in 2000 by the two countries.
