Mohammed Bin Rashid meets President of Italian Parliament
Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received yesterday the President of the Italian Parliament Gianfranco Fini and the delegation accompanying him.
In the presence of the Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair, Sheikh Mohammed held talks with the visiting delegation on bilateral relations between UAE and Italy. In the light of the widening horizons of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of education, culture, tourism, sports and industry, they also discussed the ways for enhancing these relations. The discussions also touched upon a number of other topics and issues of peace and development on the regional and the global levels.
Sheikh Mohammed asserted that peace, coexistence and dialogue among various civilisations are the well established and pivotal principles of the regional and international policies of the United Arab Emirates.
During the talks, Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of unifying the efforts of world countries, especially those of the European countries for achieving prevalence for the principles of peace, justice and freedom in the relations among nations. This is the shortest way that will lead the world countries, especially the Middle Eastern states to security, stability and socio-economic development, he said.
Sheikh Mohammed also said that the parliamentarians have an active and important role to play on the global arena as they have to encourage their respective governments to show serious cooperation for guaranteeing justice for the Palestinian people who continue to suffer over the last six decades the oppression and displacement.
Looked through the moral, political and historical perspectives, to do justice to the people of Palestine is to establish an independent state of their own; Sheikh Mohammed stressed. The absence of equality, justice and recognition of other's rights will not lead to nothing but more conflicts and violence in the region, as well as political and economic instability of its people, noted Sheikh Mohammed.
The President of the Italian Parliament hailed the stance of UAE, its people and the government towards the Palestinian issue. Gianfranco Fini described the Palestinian issue as just and said that it deserves to be supported by all countries of the world. The international community should intensify their efforts to solve this issue and achieve just peace in the region guaranteeing freedom and security for all its people and states; Fini said.
