Over 2000 students donate blood last year
(KPL) Some 2,141 students in Vientiane donated their blood to the National Transfusion Centre last year, said the Lao Red Cross.
Around 13,000 students wanted to donate their blood to the centre last year. The National Blood Transfusion Centre of the Lao Red Cross held its annual meeting to assess its works implemented in the last one year here last Friday.
The meeting was chaired by President of the Lao Red Cross, Dr. Sanivurut Sramany.
Director of the National Blood Transfusion, Dr. Te Thammavong, representatives of Education Service of Vientiane and different secondary schools and relevant sectors attended the event.
Dr. Sanivurut said that the blood donation by students in Nasaythong Secondary School, Phonthong Secondary School, Sokpaluang Buddhist Clergy Secondary School, Ban Home Upper Secondary School and Dongdok Secondary School were outstanding last year.
He said that the Lao Red Cross planned to have more than 1,800 people donate blood to its centre this year.
