EU COMMISSIONER FOR EXTERNAL RELATIONS AND EUROPEAN NEIGHBORHOOD POLICY STARTS SOUTH CAUCASUS TOUR
Baku, January 19 (AzerTAc). European Union`s Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner has embarked on a tour of South Caucasus, which includes Armenia as first destination.
On Tuesday Ferrero-Waldner will arrive in Georgia where she is expected to sign a
document to increase financial aid to the country.
Benita Ferrero-Waldner will travel on to Baku on Wednesday to meet Azerbaijani
officials on a variety of topics, including cooperation within the Eastern
Partnership Initiative and regional security.
Before starting the tour, the commissioner told journalists the Southern Caucasian
countries were very important for the European Union. She also said the Eastern
Partnership Initiative offers broader prospects for further enhancing political and
economic relations of the union with Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.
