IN MEMORY OF COLLEAGUE

Baku, January 20 (AzerTAc). The staff of the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency AzerTAc has suffered a heavy loss: Ogtay Aydin Mammadov, Chief of the agency`s news photography department, one of the country`s best press photographers suddenly died in his 58.
Graduated from the Azerbaijan State Institute of Physical Culture, Ogtay Aydinoglu in 1977 devoted his life to Azerinform, the present-day AzerTAc.
Since 1998 he had been in charge of the agency`s news photography department. Ever since he had been not only an eye-witness but also a photo-annalist of the most remarkable events taken place in Azerbaijan.
As a press photographer, Ogtay accompanied the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and, later, incumbent President Ilham Aliyev in their numerous foreign visits. His high professionalism was recognized internationally, and as a sign of it, he was awarded the title of “Honorable worker of culture” and the “Taraggi” (Progress) medal.
Ogtay was a devoted family man, a very kind and cheerful person, but a man, who never put up with injustice, rudeness and ignorance.
Family members and friends warned him to undergo a medical examination as lately, he complained of heart trouble. Moreover, long years of intensive work required that.
He always promised to do so, but this remained just words.
And his heart let him down. We lost Ogtay forever on the day when our people were commemorating the anniversary of the January 20 tragedy. Shortly after taking photos at the Alley of Martyrs, by the will of fate, he died in his photo lab, having given his life to his noble profession.
He had great dreams, he wanted his children to start their families, and wanted to become a grandfather. But destiny had other plans for him…
Ogtay`s son chose his father`s profession, in which he is already making his first steps. We believe that time will come when Aydin Ogtayoglu will prove a worthy successor to his father Ogtay.
Goodbye dear Ogtay, your friends and colleagues will never forget your, you will always live in our hearts!

May Allah rest your soul in peace!
