M'SIAN KING, PRIME MINISTER CONGRATULATE OBAMA

WASHINGTON, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin
and Queen Tuanku Nur Zahirah congratulated Barack Obama's inauguration as the
44th President of the United States.

"We are confident that the warm and mutually beneficial relations that
happily exist between our two countries will develop further and flourish under
your new administration," said the King in a letter dated Jan 14 to the new US
President.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in his congratulatory letter, said
Malaysia looked forward to working closely with the Obama administration in
addressing issues of bilateral concern.

"Malaysia looks forward as well to your leadership in finding solutions to
pressing international issues, in particular a just, lasting and comprehensive
peace in the Middle East," he said in a letter dated Jan 19.
