NINE FLIGHTS DIVERTED DUE TO POOR VISIBILITY
BANGKOK, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Poor visibility forced nine flights to be diverted from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport here Thursday morning.
Serirat Prasutanond, director of the airport and acting president of
Airports of Thailand (AOT), told reporters fog caused poor visibility of around
800 metres only, forcing planes to be diverted to the Don Muang domestic airport
in the capital, and to international airports in Phuket and Chiang Mai.
Among the affected flights was one of Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi which
was diverted to Phuket and several Thai Airways flights which landed in Don
Muang and Chiang Mai.
The situation returned to normal after 10am.
According to the Meteorological Department, poor visibility was expected
over the next few days in most parts of the country due to thick patches of fog.
