Kimchi Making Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- Now is the kimchi-making season in the DPRK, where various vehicles carrying vegetables can be seen in streets and villages. It has been a tradition of Koreans to make kimchi at homes in every November, regarding it as an important affair of a year. In recent years, vegetable greenhouses were built in different parts of the country and a new change was also witnessed in the way of making kimchi. Kimchi-making contest and show are often held to disseminate the relevant knowledge and technique to citizens. The Korean nation's custom of making kimchi was registered as a world intangible cultural heritage at the 10th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the UNESCO last year. -0-
