BUDAPEST TO HOST NABUCCO SUMMIT

Baku, January 22 (AzerTAc). Nabucco Summit will be held on January 27 in Budapest, Hungary.

The Nabucco project is to transport gas of Central Asia and Caspian region via
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria, and will be
linked up to Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline.
Russia–Ukraine gas dispute, which occurred during the last December, has threatened
natural gas supply in numerous European countries.
After the dispute, representatives of European Commission and heads of EU member
states have repeatedly declared the importance of the construction of alternative
routes, including Nabucco gas pipeline.
After a meeting with Turkey`s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Brussels,
European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said he is expecting for soonest
success in construction of the European gas pipeline.
