University Of Malaya Organises International Workshop On China Studies

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- The Institute of China Studies in University of Malaya (UM) is organising an international workshop titled 'Understanding of China from the Malay World: Contemporary and Future Issues' next Wednesday. UM in a statement on Monday said the workshop would focus on the study of China in the 'Malay World' using the medium of Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language). The workshop will feature 16 local and international experts from Indonesia and China to discuss various diplomatic, political, economic, cultural and Islamic community issues. Among those presenting their work papers are Malay Studies chaiperson from the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia based at the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) Prof Awang Sariyan; Fellow of the Institute of International Strategic Studies, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Prof Xu Liping; Prof Tan Chee Beng of the School of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Sun Yat-sen; Dr Tuty Muas from the University of Indonesia; and Associate Prof Dr Haslina Ibrahim of International Islamic University Malaysia.
