Malaysia Tightens Border Control To Prevent Daesh Militants From Seeking Refuge - Minister Hishammuddin

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is tightening its border control to curb the entry of Daesh militants who are desperate to find refuge after their hideouts in the Middle East have been bombed by the allied forces. Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said although there had been no reports on the movement of Daesh militants to Southeast Asia, precautionary measures were required, especially in territories controlled by dissidents who were inclined to support the terror group. "The government is always wary and in a state of preparedness to ensure that the country's borders and waters are not infiltrated by this group (Daesh)," he told reporters after closing the Asean Pink Dialogue 2016, here, Tuesday. Hishammuddin said Malaysia needed to be watchful of the Abu Sayyaf terror group in the southern Philippines and Daesh which pledged shared allegiance, to prevent the group from giving refuge to Daesh militants. --BERNAMA
