Minister of Economy and Commerce Meets Mayor of Geneva

Doha, November 16 (QNA) - HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani met today with Guillaume Barazzone, the Mayor of the City of Geneva and a member of the Swiss Parliament, along with his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, and discussed aspects of joint cooperation and ways of developing it, especially in economic, trade and investment fields. The meeting discussed cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries in light of the interest given by the State of Qatar to the private sector and its role in economic diversification and development process. It is noteworthy to mention that the State of Qatar and the Swiss Confederation had signed a number of agreements including: the protection and promotion of mutual investment agreement signed on 12/11/2001 and a free trade agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which the Swiss Confederation is one of its members. Trade between the State of Qatar and the Swiss Confederation reached nearly QR 3.8 billion in 2015, and the Swiss Confederation is Qatar's 20th commercial partner. (QNA)
