Malaysia's Ministry Of Education To Identify Schools, Encourage Use ICT In Teaching, Learning
PUTRAJAYA, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Ministry of Education (MOE) will identify a range of schools - from a high performance to rural schools - to encourage the use of information communication and technology (ICT) in teaching and learning.
In line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed today, these schools will be a part of the Microsoft Showcase Schools Programme and will be engaged in digital transformation to improve learning outcomes.
The MoU was signed by Alias Ahmad, Secretary-General of the Education Ministry and Microsoft's Managing Director K.Raman, and witnessed by Minister of Education Mahdzir Khalid.
According to a joint statement, Microsoft, with the advisory and guidance of the Educational Technology Division, will develop ICT-related resources like content and tools to enhance digital literacy.
"The MoU underscores the importance of 21st learning century for classrooms, teachers, and students alike. The ultimate objective is to empower students to incorporate ICT in their schoolwork and learning," the statement said.
For teachers, the partnership will provide content and trainers to sharpen the digital skills of teachers, skilled communication, creativity and problem-solving.
"The partnership encourages and showcases best practices. Every year, 100 educators will be selected and recognised as Microsoft Innovative Educators to pave the way for their peers for better learning and student outcomes," the statement said.
The statement also said that students would ultimately benefit from this MoU, as they build on their 21st century skills to improve employability, and lead more productive lives in the future.
