PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will undertake a two-day working visit to Malaysia starting Tuesday. In a statement, Wisma Putra (Malaysian Foreign Ministry) said Cavusoglu would be meeting Foreign Minister Anifah Aman Tuesday in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. During the visit, it said Anifah would host an official luncheon in honour of Cavusoglu and members of his delegation. "The visit will provide the opportunity for both ministers to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern. The visit is envisaged to strengthen and enhance further Malaysia-Turkey relations," it said. Wisma Putra said Malaysia and Turkey continued to enjoy close relations in various key areas including politics, economy, defence and tourism. It said total bilateral trade, valued at US$1.28 billion (RM5.65 billion) with imports of US$421.36 million (RM1.85 billion) and exports of RM3.90 billion, were recorded last year. (US$1 = RM4.39) "Since the implementation of Malaysia-Turkey Free Trade Agreement (MTFTA) last year, total trade with Turkey increased significantly by 78.1 per cent," it said. The MTFTA aims to achieve the target of US$5 billion in bilateral trade by 2019 set by both countries. -- BERNAMA
