Malaysian Bowlers Clinch 1-2 Finish In Commonwealth Tourney In Johannesburg
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- National elite bowlers Muhammad Nur Aiman Khairuddin and Timmy Tan won the first and second placing in the 7th Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Johannesburg, South Africa Monday.
In the men's singles event held at Northcliff Bowl, Muhammad Nur Aiman scored 173, 266, 248, 235, 268 and 258 to win the event with a total of 1,448 pinfalls.
Meanwhile Timmy was just 92 pins behind Muhammad Nur Aiman with a score of 269, 224, 224, 205, 200 and 234 to garner 1,356 pinfalls as runner-up.
In the women's category which is still in progress, Malaysia was represented by Shalin Zulkifli and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman.
A total of 11 Commonwealth countries are taking part with each country sending four players, two bowlers for the men's and women's categories.
The events were singles (men's and women's), doubles (men's and women's) and mixed team while the 12 best players from all-event category advanced to the Master's level.
