MPOB Bags Gold, Silver And Bronze Medals At i-INOVA
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) secured one gold, one silver and two bronze medals for its oil palm-related technologies at the recent 7th Exposition on Islamic Innovation 2016 (i-INOVA)
The exposition was held from Nov 8, 2016.
Towards this end, MPOB has developed more than 600 technologies related to the oil palm industry for adoption and commercialisation by industry players and entrepreneurs.
Commenting on the MPOB’s latest award, MPOB Director-General Dr Ahmad Kushairi Din said MPOB took pride in the achievements of its research officers and the contributions of all its staff towards improving and strengthening the Malaysian oil palm industry.
”Innovations and technology breakthroughs are the way forward for the country’s oil palm industry.
”Through such an approach, we can further nurture the industry to greater heights,” he said in a statement.
MPOB Research Officer Nahrul Hayawin won a gold medal for her innovation in oil palm biomass-based charcoal production using microwave technology.
Dr Shamala Sundram took home a silver medal for a technology to protect oil palm root system from Ganoderma disease infestation using endophytic trichoderma isolates.
Two MPOB Research Officers, namely Zuliana Yusof and Mohd Najib Ahmad, secured a bronze medal each for their respective innovations in the oil palm sector.
Zuliana won the i-INOVA bronze medal for her research on oil palm leaf extract as an active ingredient in topical applications, while Mohd Najib won for his evolution of pheromone technique for controlling bagworm.
i-INOVA, which began in 2010, is an exhibition and competition to introduce innovative products from higher learning institutions and research institutes locally and abroad.
