M'SIAN DPM ADVISES MUSLIMS TO ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE
PEKAN (Pahang, Malaysia), Jan 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak Saturday advised Muslims to acquire knowledge and education if they do not want to remain backward.
He said one's level and quality of education was closely associated with
one's standard of living.
The most effective tool to free Muslims from backwardness was mastery of
knowledge and a high level of education," he said when presenting school
uniforms and bags to 2,000 schoolchildren in his Pekan parliamentary
constituency, here. Also present was the chairman of Amanah Raya Berhad,
Dusuki Ahmad.
Najib said the failure of the administrators in some Islamic nations to
develop an education system had resulted in little change to the way of life of
the people.
"Due to their failure in acquiring knowledge and education, 1.4 billion
Muslims in the world have lost out to a mere 14 million Jews," he said.
He said that in Malaysia, the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had
established an education system which enabled everyone to improve their standard
of living.
Children of farmers, fishermen and the poor have made it in life as
ministers, corporate leaders, professors and doctors, he said.
He said the government would continue to upgrade the education system to
help the people improve their standard of living.
