UAE to participate in European Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Abu Dhabi, Jan 26, 2009 (WAM) - The UAE wrestling and judo national team is stepping up preparation to participate in the European Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship to be held in Lisbon from January 30 to February 5.
The team is conducting daily training at the training facility of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association here in Abu Dhabi to tone up for the championship. Thirteen of the best players, who achieved great results in 2008 in local and regional championships, will represent the UAE at the championship.
According to UAE national team coach, Carlos Santos, the European championship provides great opportunity to showcase the standard of the game here in the UAE as the Lisbon championship will attract the world's best in the sport. He said the championship will also show the true standards of UAE players as the country prepares to host the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship on March 1 and 2, 2009.
