Hamdan receives Madam Cousteau
Abu Dhabi, Jan 26, 2009 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, received in Abu Dhabi yesterday wife of former French Oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, who is currently visiting the country.
Madam Cousteau presented to Sheikh Hamdan a plan for renovation of Cousteau's research ship Calypso. Sheikh Hamdan promised to study the plan.
He also commended the great achievements made by the famous French scientist.
On the occasion of the UAE's 25th national day, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan conferred the Order of Independence on the French scientist in recognition of his distinguished service to science and humanity for over 50 years. Sheikh Hamdan decorated the French scientist with the honour.
