Four Shot Dead In Three Separate Incidents In Thailand's Pattani

PATTANI (Thailand), Dec 7 (Bernama) -- Unidentified assailants shot dead four people in three incidents in the restive southern Thailand province of Pattani on Tuesday, according to police. Pattani Police acting chief Col Piyawat Chalermsri said a man and his wife were found dead at 7.30am (8.30am in Malaysia) at Jalan Donrak-Thadan in Nongchik. "They were shot in the head while riding a motorcycle to fetch their child from the baby-sitter," he said to reporters. They were identified as Nai Thawach Ponsuwang, 43, a member of the volunteer security corps, and his wife, Papimong Chaikong, 31. In the second incident, security forces found the body of a 38-year-old man with his hands tied up. He had been with the Electricity Department in Mayo, he said. Piyawat also said that a village chief identified as Nai Pradap Mai-injonh was found dead and his wife was found injured at 9.30am (10.30am in Malaysia) in local residence of Kampung Tanjung Chengal, Yaring. --BERNAMA
