AMC Eyes 100 Students For Flight Simulator Training Programme

From Norsyafawati Ab Wahab DENGKIL (Selangor, Malaysia) Dec 17 (Bernama) -- The Aviation Management College (AMC) expects to attract 100 students for its new course, Flight Simulator Training Programme, which will start in the second quarter of next year. Its Founder/Chief Executive, Captain Ab Manan Mansor, said the programme was the first of its kind in the country that was offered by a private institution which aimed to prepare and supply local pilots for the aviation industry. "We will buying the Boeing 737NG flight simulator. The pilots in this country have no place for simulator flying and most of them need to go to Jakarta," he told the media after the AMC Convocation Ceremony 2016 here Saturday. He said AMC has succesfully produced graduates for the aviation industry with 95 per cent of them accepted by AirAsia Bhd, Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Malindo Airways Sdn Bhd and the rest now working with other airline companies in Singapore and West Asia. "In AMC, we are not rushing to produce graduands. About 40 per cent finished their study on time from about 150 students per intake because we emphasise quality," he said. Meanwhile, the former Royal Malaysian Air Force pilot said, he planned to bring his proposal to Transport Minister, Liow Tiong Lai, for the establisment of ASEAN Aviation Authority (AAA) to play a role of standard setting in aviation industry. "ASEAN has 600 million people and if we can form AAA, we can develop our own pool of skilled people in the industry and approve our own technology in this region. "If we cannot sell our aviation products to US or European countries, at least we have our own ASEAN market here. He said his idea was fully supported by the Indonesian Lion Air co-founder Rusdi Kirana and Group Chief Executive Officer, Tony Fernandes. "If the idea to establish AAA can gain support from at least five countries in ASEAN, I think we are ready enough to produce and comply with our own security standards and certificates for the aviation market without depending on approvals from the European aviation authority," he said. He said after this he planned to seek approvals from the transport ministries of the Philipines, Thailand as well as Singapore. -- BERNAMA
