Muhammad Habibullah Wins FIM Asia Supermoto

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia) Dec 19 (Bernama) - Muhammad Habibullah Mohd Saleh won 2016 FIM Asia Supermoto Championship in the gruonds of Shah Alam Stadium, here, Sunday. The KTM Malaysia Racing Team rider collected 171 points while his teammate, Andrew McLiesh of Australia, came in second (138 points). Another Malaysian rider, Mohammad Khairi Zakaria (independent), finished third overall with 123 points. In the first race, Muhammad Habibullah was festest in 21:33.6s followed by Richard Dibben (Independent) of New Zealand, (21:34.9s) while Mohammad Khairi finished in third (21:41.2s). In the second race, he received stiff competition but still finished in first place (21:58.1s) followed by Dibben (21:58.5s) while Yasushi Matsumoto of Autorace KYT Global Racing was third (21:58.8s). "This is my second year in this competition and this success is very meaningful for me," said Muhammad Habibullah,25, after the race. He won a trophy and cash prize of USD3,000 (RM13,428), second place won US$2,000 (RM8,952) while third place won USD1,000 (RM4,476). The first round was held at Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia (Sept 3-4), second round at Malang, Indonesia (Oct 8-9) and third round at Clark Circuit, Manila, Philippines (Nov 19-20). --BERNAMA
