Sudan Can Benefit From Malaysia's Technical Support, Says Its VP

From Balqis Jamaludin
KHARTOUM, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Sudan's Vice-President, Hasabu Mohamed Abdel-Rahman (sixth from right) is positive that his country and Malaysia can boost cooperation in many areas based on Malaysia's successful development and growing economy.
He said Malaysia's strength in technical support could benefit the second largest country in Africa, which is rich in natural resources but has limited technical support.
"I am sure Malaysia has experienced some case studies and success stories. With such experience and Sudan's natural resources we can make very good cooperation," he said during a courtesy call by a six-member Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) group at the Presidential Palace here, Sunday.
According to the vice-president, Sudan which has a population of 30 million, has very good natural resources such as oil and gas, and 11 rivers.
Describing Malaysia as a "friendly state" while welcoming the Bernama team led by Deputy-Editor-in-Chief (Domestic News) Mokhtar Hussain (fifth from left), he said another area where cooperation could be enhanced was in higher education.
Malaysia was one of the earliest countries to invest in Sudan through Petronas in 1995, after the establishment of Khartoum-Kuala Lumpur relations in 1991.
The Bernama team is on a one-week visit to the country beginning Friday, hosted by Sudan News Agency (SUNA).
Also present during the courtesy call were SUNA's Deputy General Manager Abdallah G.A. Nimir, Chief Editor Mohamed Osman Adam and the news agency's Director of Public Relations Ahamed Sh.A Musa. (photoBERNAMA)
