280 Thai Vehicles Penalised For Various Offences - RTD

PASIR MAS (Kelantan, Malaysia) Dec 21 (Bernama) -- A total of 280 vehicles from Thailand were penalised by the Kelantan Road Transport Department (RTD) on various offences from January to November this year. State RTD director Mahasan Mustapha said the most notable offence was not having International Circulation Permit (ICP), of which of 257 summonses were issued. Other offences committed were not having valid driver's licence (seven cases), expired driver’s licence (three), violating the ICP regulations (two), tinted glass (two), technical errors (nine), overtaking at double lines (seven), and other offenses (11 cases), he told reporters after inspecting Ops Thailand Vehicles at the Immigration, Customs and Quarantine Complex in Rantau Panjang here, Tuesday. Mahasan said Ops Thai Vehicles was conducted continuously troughout the year with the main objectives being to control vehicles' entry into Malaysia that did not follow the rules and to ensure the drivers obeyed the law when they were in the country. "There are three entrances to Malaysia in Kelantan-Thailand border, namely Rantau Panjang; Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat and Bukit Bunga, Tanah Merah, all controlled by RTD through the Border Control Station. "The main function of these stations are to issue ICP, enforcement and to record the number of Thai vehicles entering the country and vice versa," said Mahasan adding that until November, a total of 36,038 ICP were issued to foreign vehicles, where Rantau Panjang station recorded the highest ICP issuance at 20,358. -- BERNAMA
