FNC Speaker meets members of British House of Commons
London, Jan 29, 2009 (WAM) - Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al-Ghurair, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), currently on a visit here with FNC delegation, yesterday met with some members of House of Commons.
During the meeting, which was held in the presence of Saif Al-Shamsi, Charge d'Affaires at the UAE Embassy in London, the FNC delegation sought to know Britain's stance on the issue of the three UAE islands - The Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa - being occupied by Iran.
A member of the House will present to the House a letter demanding the British government to show its stance on the issue of Iran's occupation of the three islands since 1971.
In a post meeting statement, Al-Ghurair said the FNC delegation had got assurances from Honourable John Grogan, Member of Parliament, that he will present to the House of Commons the written inquiry within the next 24 hours to know the stance of the House and British government on the three occupied UAE islands.
The floating of the issue for deliberation in the House will provide the opportunity to know exactly the stance of the British government on the issue, in view of the fact that the British government is well aware of the truth of the matter in the Gulf region since the British withdrawal in the early seventies of the last century.
