Telugu Association Of Malaysia Organises Cultural Tour Of South India

By Shakir Husain NEW DELHI, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- The Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) organised a southern India tour for a group of students to familiarise them with the Telugu culture. The Malaysian youngsters learned about the cultural heritage of the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Their week-long trip was sponsored by Telangana Jagruthi, a socio-cultural organisation headed by Indian parliament member Kalvakuntla Kavitha and dedicated to promoting Telugu culture in India and abroad. "This is a huge opportunity for the children to learn culture and heritage of the land of their forefathers," Telugu Association of Malaysia official A.D.R. Naidu told The Hans India newspaper. Kavitha, who represents the Nizamabad constituency in the Indian parliament, was impressed with the Malaysian visitors. "Amused with cultural performance of Malaysian Telugu students, great effort by parents for ingraining our culture into them," she tweeted on December 22. The Telugu Association of Malaysia represents about 500,000 Telugus in Malaysia. --BERNAMA
