Three-Day Lampu 2016 Festival Lights Up Putrajaya

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Dec 31 (Bernama) -- The Federal Government Administrative Centre has been turned into a fairy land of multi-coloured lights in conjunction with the Light and Motion Putrajaya (LAMPU) 2016 festival for three nights at Dataran Putrajaya in Presinct 3 starting Dec 30.
LAMPU 2016 organised by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) with the cooperation of Federal Territories Ministry themed 'Nusantara' would be held from 7.30 pm to 12.30 midnight until Jan 1.
Apart from the main location at Dataran Putrajaya, the festival which entered its fourth year involved mostly government buildings at Persiaran Perdana, PPj Complex and the Palace of Justice.
Deputy Federal Territories Minister Loga Bala Mohan tonight officiated the festival which was also attended by PPj president Hasim Ismail.
According to a statement issued in conjunction with the event, PPj said LAMPU festival could enliven the night scene of Putrajaya and it was expected to draw more than 700,000 local and foreign visitors.
PPj said Putrajaya is the only city in Malaysia to become a member of the Lighting Urban Community International (LUCI) since 2002.
It said the festival this year introduced several new displays such as LAMPU Skywave which presented the technology of light ball movements and animation.
Also on show is light mapping using the latest technology and technics to demonstrate 3D image of building facades to highlight the uniqueness of the building architecture.
The Star Wars Fusion presentation which is a wayang kulit version of Star Wars is expected to attract curious local and foreign visitors.
Other activities are the lighted garden, light structure, car and trishaw floats, a light high-powered motorcycle exhibition and a LAMPU forum.
Visitors will also get to witness a digital fireworks displayed for the first time to usher in the 2017 New Year at Dataran Putrajaya.
The digital fireworks show which will last about six minutes will be held in front of the Palace of Justice (photoBERNAMA).
