Malaysia Bold In Voicing Support For Rohingyas

IPOH (Perak, Malaysia), Jan 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has acted boldly in expressing its dissatisfaction with the violation of human rights by oppressing the Rohingyas in Myanmar. The Perak menteri besar's wife, Datin Seri Saripah Zulkifli said while other countries practised a non-inteference approach, Malaysia refused to stand still and fought for rights of the Rohingyas. "This is not the first time the Malaysian government is doing this, as previously the Malaysia defended the human rights of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the country recovered from the conflict," she said when launching a programme to discuss human rights from the Islamic perspective organised by Pertubuhan Wanita Prihatin Perak here, on Jan 5. Saripah, who is also Badan Amal dan Usaha Isteri Negeri Perak president said although a universal declaration of human rights was made decades ago, the oppression still continued to occur, and human values were eroded. "Whether we realise it or not, humanity is slowly disappearing due to the lust of greed which always dominates humans. "The more we talk about humans functioning as 'khalifah' (leaders) on earth, the more we are faced with problems created by humans themselves." She said the conflict was caused by people trying to topple others, causing violence, cruelty and murder involving the innocent. -- BERNAMA
