INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION OPENS CONDOLENCE BOOK
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- The Indian High Commission here will
open a condolence book to enable the general public to offer their condolences
to former Indian President, R.Venkataraman who died Tuesday in New Delhi.
In a statement here Wednesday, the high commission said the public can offer
their condolences at its office at No 2, Jalan Taman Duta, Off Jalan Duta from
10am to 1pm and 2.30pm to 4.30pm this Friday and on Feb 2.
Born on Dec 4, 1910, Venkataraman was the 8th President of India from
July 25, 1987 to July 25, 1992.
During his distinguished career in public life, he held several other key
assignments including Vice President, Minister of Defence, Minister of Finance
and Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission of India.
The government of India has declared seven days of state mourning in India
and Indian missions abroad from Tuesday to Feb 2.
