MALAYSIA SERVICES EXHIBITION 2009 IN DUBAI FROM MARCH 17

DUBAI, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- A total of 202 Malaysian service providers will showcase their expertise in various sectors at the Malaysia Services Exhibition (MSE) 2009 taking place in Dubai in March.

Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade),
the three-day show from March 17 will provide an avenue for potential clients
from the Gulf region and Malaysian companies to exchange views and explore
mutually beneficial business opportunities.

In a statement, Matrade said the Malaysian firms would represent 13
distinctive services clusters, namely construction, engineering, oil and gas,
power generation, financial services, healthcare, ICT, logistics,
transportation and shipbuilding, franchise, professional services, education as
well as designing and art.

MSE 2009, the second in its series, will be held at the Dubai Airport Expo
Exhibition Centre, covering an area of 11,654 sq metres.

"The success of MSE 2008 in Sharjah and the need to have a continuous
presence in the West Asia region, has prompted Matrade to organise a sequel
services exhibition in Dubai," said the Malaysian external trade promotion
agency.

Matrade said it would bring together the best of Malaysia's service
providers to participate in the Dubai exhibition through collaborations with
various government agencies, trade associations as well as private bodies in
Malaysia.

Apart from the services showcase, the Malaysia Services Forum will be held
on March 18, covering major areas such as construction, engineering, healthcare
as well as oil and gas.

Matrade said Malaysian service providers had a proven track record in
completing remarkable projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council region, citing
the new Doha International Airport in Qatar, mixed development in the Al-Reem
Island Project in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi City Centre, Jizan Economic City in
Saudi Arabia and the Shohiba Independent Water and Power Project as examples.

Other services sectors which have a strong presence in the region range
from engineering, oil and gas, and healthcare to ICT and education.

Matrade said from trade perspective, the United Arab Emirates was
Malaysia's biggest trading partner in the Middle East, with bilateral trade
valued at US$4.5 billion in 2008, an increase of 45.74 per cent over the US$2.9
billion recorded in 2007.

Major imports from Malaysia are furniture, jewellery, palm oil, machinery,
appliances and parts as well as electrical and electronic products. To date,
more than than 60 Malaysian companies are operating in the UAE, mainly in
trading as well as construction and architecture.

MSE 2009 will be open to visitors from 1pm to 9pm on March 17; and 10am to
9pm on March 18 and 19.
