Hyundai Mipo Q4 net jumps 41 pct on high-priced ship orders



SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., a unit of the world's
largest shipyard, said Thursday that its fourth-quarter earnings soared 41
percent on increased orders for high-priced ships.
Net profit reached 98.1 billion won (US$71 million) in the October-December
period, compared with 69.5 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales increased 47 percent to 1.15 trillion won and operating income climbed 17
percent to 113 billion won.
For the full year of 2008, Hyundai Mipo posted a net profit of 519 billion won,
down 1.9 percent from a year earlier. Its sales rose 34 percent to 3.8 trillion
won and operating income jumped 48 percent to 537 billion won, it said.
Hyundai Mipo is an affiliate of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world's leading
shipyard.
