Malaysian Embassy Senior Officers Visit Antara

By Azeman Ariffin JAKARTA, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- Four senior officers at the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia Friday visited the headquarters of the Indonesian National News Agency (Antara) at Wisma Antara, here. The four officers were Malaysian deputy ambassador to Indonesia Zamshari Shaharan, economic advisor Ahamad Faizal Abdul Rahman, as well as their secretaries Azwiralbukhairi and Mohamad Hail Aniff Mohamad Fauzi. They were greeted on arrival by Antara chief executive officer Meidyatama Suryodiningrat and Antara senior advisor Saiful Hadi. Meidyatama then gave a briefing on the agency's operations and activities that have been planned in conjunction with its 80th anniversary celebration. He said as the national news agency of Indonesia, Antara was ready to cooperate with the Malaysian Embassy in order to further strengthen the existing bilateral ties between Malaysia and Indonesia. Zamshari who led the delegation said several activities were also being planned by the embassy to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Indonesia, including by organising a media night in Jakarta. The Embassy of Malaysia in Indonesia is among the earliest embassies opened by the Malaysian government soon after the country gained independence in 1957. The first Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia was Senu Abdul Rahman. --BERNAMA
