IsoWhey Sports Swisswellness Team To Made Debut In 2017 LTdL

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (Bernama) -- IsoWhey Sports Swisswellness team of Australia is set to feature for the first time in the Asian prestigious cycling championship, 2017 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) from Feb 22-March 1. LTdL Chief Executive Officer, Emir Abdul Jalal said they decided to invite the continental team formerly known as Praties and Avanti after showcasing a splendid performance at the Australian Championship held last Sunday in Ballarat, Victoria in Australia. "The weekend’s results are just a confirmation of what we already knew of them. Richie Porte, one of the world’s best cyclists these days [5th in the 2016 Tour de France with BMC Racing Team], was part of that team when as a young rider he finished tenth overall in the 2009 LTdL with the Australian national team," Emir said in a statement Friday. Their rider, Cameron Bayly finished fourth at the Australian Championship behind three WorldTour riders (Miles Scotson of BMC, Simon Gerrans of Orica-Scott and Nathan Haas of Dimension Data) at the Australian Championship. Emir said the presence of the team would certainly add excitement to the LTdL which had a long history involving the participation of the Australian riders such as Jay Sweet in 1996 and Caleb Ewan in 2015. Team manager Andrew Christie-Johnson said the team was honoured for being invited to take part in LTdL for the first time and was ready to give its best in the 22nd edition of Asia’s premier Hors Category stage race. “I’ve always wanted to send my team to Le Tour de Langkawi and it’s an honour to be part of this race this year and we’ll line up with our most competitive riders for this particular event”, he said. Riders: -------- Cameron Bayly, Chris Harper, Jesse Kerrison, Anthony Giacoppo, Sean Lake (all Australian), Joseph Cooper (New Zealand). -- BERNAMA
