PORT KLANG, (Selangor, Malaysia) Feb 4 (Bernama) -- The Nautical Aliya vessel being used for the 'Flotilla For Myanmar' mission is expected to arrive in Yangon, Myanmar on Feb 7 or 8.
Captain of the ship Mohd Firdaus Faisal Mohamad, 42, said the journey to Yangon would only take about four days, depending on the weather.
He said a thorough check was conducted on the ship to ensure the success of the mission.
"We expect sea conditions to be calm but anything can happen. We hope everything will run smoothly," he told reporters here, Friday.
He said the vessel would travel at a speed of 10 knots or 20 kilometres per hour depending on sea conditions.
"Yes, this is going to be a challenging mission but as a Muslim I am proud to be part of this mission," he said.
The delegation led by Putera 1Malaysia Club (KP1M) chairman Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim was given an official send off by Prime Minister Najib Razak and Malaysian Islamic Party PAS deputy president, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man at the Boustead Cruise Centre terminal, here Friday.
The 'Food Flotilla for Myanmar' mission is organised by KP1M and Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (MAPIM) in collaboration with the Turkiye Diyanet Vakfi (TDV) Foundation of Turkey.
