M'sian Youths Urged To Embrace Entrepreneurship
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysians especially the youngsters are urged to grab entrepreneurial opportunities in this country which offers a promising future.
UNIRAZAK Bank Rakyat School of Business and Entrepreneurship Deputy Dean, Prof Dr Siri Roland Xavier, said the government, specifically the Ministry of Higher Education, had opened various platforms including providing entrepreneurship education to those who were interested in venturing into business.
"Because we are focusing on entrepreneurship education, Malaysia is very much ahead of other countries in this area," he told a press conference after the launch of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2016/2017 Report here, Monday.
The launch was officiated by Higher Education Deputy Minister Mary Yap Kain Ching.
Xavier said the government could also introduce entrepreneurship education to students in primary and secondary schools to encourage them to be involved in the business sector.
"We are not only focusing on the quantity of entrepreneurs but we also want to produce more quality entrepreneurs, and I believe Malaysia can achieve that," he said.
In her opening speech, Yap said based on the report, Malaysia was ranked in the top four out of 65 countries in the world within the GEM indicators for entrepreneurial finance.
"This relates positively to the availability of financial resources, both equity and debt, for small and medium enterprises including grants and subsidies, and funding through private lenders such as crowdfunding for new and growing firms," she added.
