"JALAN SESAMA" SECOND SEASON LAUNCHED

Bandung, W Java, Jan 30 (ANTARA) - Jalan Sesama (Sesame Street) here Friday began the show on its second season when US Deputy Chief of Mission John Heffern along with the dolls of Momon, Tantan and Jabrik as well as new characters as Belang and agent 123 launched the show at the National Gallery.
"Jalan Sesama describes Indonesian cultural and social conditions," Heffern said here Friday.

"This show is focusing on the value of tolerance, diversity and environment and also giving chance to children to have fun," he said.

The new season will be broadcast on private tv station Trans 7 on January 31, 2009 at 9.30 AM.

Some invitees would also visit the Muppets neighborhood on the next television episode. They are the national sprinter, Suryo Agung Wibowo, Actor Didi Petet, NAIF music band, actress Rachel Maryam and culinary tv show presenter Bondan Winarno.

These celebrities would give messages on healthy living, sports and music.

The show would also introduce its new character, Gatot Kata, inspired from the famous Javanese puppet, Gatot Kaca. He would ask the viewers to seek things starting with certain alphabets.

Jalan Sesama is produced by an educational franchise organization Sesame Workshop in cooperation with Jakarta based Creative Indigo Production.

Jalan Sesama also involves local educators and experts in child growth in creating a relevant and proper theme for kid's age, such as urging them to protect the environment and respect diversity.

The Jalan Sesama is initially funded by the US community through USAID.
