3 stranded Europeans rescued in UAE
Ras al-Khaimah, February 1, 2009 (WAM) - Three European tourists stranded on Ghalila Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah were rescued yesterday by the Ras Al Khaimah Police Airwing.
One of the persons phoned the police late last night and said that he and his 2 friends lost their way during a tour in the mountainous area, according to Major. Saeed Al Yamahi, Head of the Airwing.
Darkness made it difficult for a RAK Police search and rescue team onboard a helicopter to locate the stranded tourists in the area. The three were then instructed to stay where they are until the morning when they were picked up and moved to safety.
