Volunteers For KL Sea Games Must Serve As 'Ambassadors' - Youth And Sports Minister

BANGI (Selangor, Malaysia), Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Volunteers for the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games must be equipped with knowledge about ASEAN countries, multi-talented and able to do multi-tasking. Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said apart from athletes, volunteers selected for the SEA Games would be an asset to the games and country since they would serve as 'ambassadors'. Khairy said the volunteer group to be known as 'Wow Factor' would showcase Malaysia as a gracious host for the 2017 SEA Games to held from Aug 19-31 and ASEAN Para Games 2017 scheduled from Sept 17-23. "We must remember that the 'Wow Factor' will be the ambassadors of Malaysia and the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games. And since they will be the frontline, they must portray a good image of Malaysia as the host and be resourceful," he told reporters after announcing the volunteers for the games at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Bangi, here Wednesday. He said from the 54,000 volunteers who registered, 27,160 had filled their application forms. The ministry will select 13,000 volunteers and those selected would be insured, receive official attire, food and drinks (three times a day) and receive a certificate. -- BERNAMA
