Bahrain's efforts to expand green area stressed

Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf stressed Bahrain's promising strategic vision for sustainable agricultural development which aims to achieve food security by highlighting the investment opportunities in the agricultural field. The minister was speaking on the occasion of launching Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2017 which kicked off today under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the unflinching support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development. The exhibition is being held at the International Exhibition and Convention Centre and will continue until February 26. The Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Minister pointed out the ministry's plan to carry out a number of agricultural projects, pointing out the efforts made to expand the green area in Bahrain by creating 200 parks nationwide. He also highlighted a plan for this year to set up Muharraq Grand Park, the Water Park, Barbar Park and park number (8) in Isa Town. The minister pointed out that the theme of this year's exhibition which focuses on reduced gardens is in tune with the ministry's efforts to promote agriculture and build national capabilities in this field.
