HM the King receives NAO report 2016

Manama, Feb. 21 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today received at Al-Safriya Palace National Audit Office (NAO) President Hassan bin Khalifa Al-Jalahma who submitted the NAO Report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2016. HM the King hailed the NAO President and staff's dedicated efforts, commending their performance and strenuous progress in protecting public money and attaining the highest degrees of credibility, independency and transparency. HM the King stressed the crucial importance of protecting public funds, monitoring spending and promoting rationalized expenditure, lauding NAO's role in assuming its duties fully, which contributes to enhancing the performance of ministries and state institutions. Al-Jalahma took pride in submitting to HM the King the report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2016, as per Article 19 of the law on the National Audit Office. He said the data reflects the NAO's commitment to implement the state's policy aimed at rationalising and reducing public spending. He briefed HM the King on the 2016 NAO's achievements with regard to financial and administrative work and its impact on the agencies concerned, and their progress with regard to the implementation of the NAO's remarks. He also gave an overview of the NAO's development projects in conformity with its strategic plan which reflects the NAO's commitment to international control standards, International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and quality assurance that promoted the NAO's regulatory outputs and their welcome to implement the NAO's recommendations and remarks. He said that he had the honour to listen to the royal directives on the NAO's regulatory role in protecting public money and maintaining the highest degrees of credibility, independency and transparency.
