Jong-Nam: Highlights of IGP's Media Conference

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 (Bernama) -- The following are the highlights of the news conference by Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar (left) relating to the murder case of Kim Jong-nam, at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman here Wednesday.
1. Malaysian Police reject proposal by the North Korean authority for a joint investigation into the murder of Kim Jong-nam - IGP Khalid
2. Malaysian Police believe the four suspects who have returned to North Korea had an active role in the murder of Kim Jong-nam - IGP
3. The two female suspects were aware the liquid used in the murder was toxic, poison. - IGP
4. Malaysian Police have beefed up security at the KL Hospital mortuary following an attempt of break in - IGP Khalid
5. Police to apply for extension of remand of the two foreign women and one North Korean male suspect, while the boyfriend of one of the female suspects was released on police bail - IGP
6. Malaysian Police will request North Korean Embassy, North Korean government to help trace the four suspects who have fled to Pyongyang.
7. Malaysian Police will call one individual attached to the North Korean Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and one individual attached to the North Korean airline to facilitate in their investigation.
8. No family members of Kim Jong-nam have come forward to identify the deceased or give DNA samples.
9. Malaysian Police believe all suspects involved in the murder of Kim Jong-nam were trained and knew what they were doing.
10. Second Secretary of the North Korean Embassy in KL, who is a suspect in the murder probe of Kim Jong-nam, is identified as Hyon Kwang Song.
On Feb 13, Jong-nam was at the KL International Airport 2 (klia2) at about 8am, waiting for his flight to Macau, when a woman suddenly covered his face with what is believed to be poison.
Jong-nam sought help at a customer service counter and was rushed to the Putrajaya Hospital but died on the way.
He had come to Malaysia on Feb 6 and carried a passport with the name of Kim Chol.
