Malaysia's Immigration Department Meets Embassy Officials On E-Kad

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), March 1 (Bernama) -- Embassy staff from 13 source countries were given a briefing on the implementation of the temporary Enforcement Card (E-Kad) for illegal immigrants in a meeting with the Immigration Department here. The meeting chaired by the department's director-general, Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali was attended by 28 embassy representatives from Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam. In a statement here Wednesday, Mustafar said the main objective of the meeting was to get support of the embassies for the E-Kad programme. "The immigration department hopes the embassies can assist in issuing passports to their citizens involved in the E-Kad programme," he added. -- BERNAMA
