No Info On Number Of Foreign Spies In Malaysia - Home Ministry
KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia's Home Ministry (KDN) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) do not have information on the number of foreign spies in the country.
KDN said this was because no countries had ever declared anything about their intelligence spies to Malaysia.
However, the ministry, through PDRM special branch, will intensify efforts to gather intelligence information to ensure that spy-related incident such as the assassination of a North Korean national in Malaysia would not recur, the ministry said in a written reply to member of parliament Sim Tze Tzin at the Dewan Rakyat (Malaysian Parliament) sitting here Thursday.
Sim had wanted to know the number of foreign spies in Malaysia and the status of investigations into the assassination of the North Korean man.
KDN said it did not wish to comment further on the matter as it was still being investigated.
The North Korean man, Kim Chol, was reported to have been assassinated at the KL International Airport 2 (klia2) on Feb 13.
The media, however, referred Kim Chol as Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean top leader Kim Jong-un.
