Favourable Draw For Nicol At 2017 PSA Women's World Squash Championships

KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysian squash queen, Nicol David received a favourable draw for the 2017 PSA Women's World Squash Championships to be held at the Egyptian Red Sea Resort of El Gouna in Egypt from April 5-14. Based on the draw issued by squash website; www.squashsite.co.uk, the eight-time world champion Nicol is slated to meet India's top player, Dipika Pallikal in the opening round on April 7. Barring any upset, she is scheduled to meet world number 13, Nour El Tayeb of Egypt in the second round two days later. The real test for the 33-year-old Penangite is expected to come in the quarterfinals where she is expected to meet defending champion and top seed, Nour El Sherbini of Egypt whom she has never beaten in their last two meetings, this year. Nicol's latest defeat to the 21-year-old Alexandria native came at the quarterfinal of the Windy City Squash Open in the United States, last month. For the record, Nicol has won the world title eight times - 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. -- BERNAMA
