SILKAIR TO FURTHER REDUCE FUEL SURCHARGES
SINGAPORE, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- Singapore's regional carrier, SilkAir, will reduce its fuel surcharges for all tickets issued from Wednesday for travel on its flights.
This is the third time the airline is reducing its fuel surcharge since
September last year following the recent sustained fall in jet fuel price.
SilkAir said the surcharges for tickets for travel between Singapore
and cities in South East Asia (Asean countries) would be reduced from US$32 to
US$29 per sector for business class and from US$28 to US$22 per sector for
economy class.
Between Singapore and all other SilkAir points, the reduction would be from
US$90 to US$85 per sector for business class, and from US$85 to US$75 per sector
for economy class.
Despite the recent easing of jet fuel prices, collections from fuel
surcharges would still give only partial relief from the increased expenditure
on jet fuel, the airline said, adding that changes in the application of
surcharges would be based on trend price movements in the price of jet fuel.
